New Delhi: As the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest entered its second day, a novel tactic was adopted on the ground: the protesting farmers used kites to thwart government-hired drones that were attempting to spray them with tear gas canisters.
Tension Escalates as Farmers’ Protest Intensifies Near Delhi Border
The farmers, who are mostly from Punjab, are determined to march on Delhi in order to secure legal protection for the minimum support price (MSP) and other reforms related to agriculture. Security forces opened fire on the demonstrators with tear gas shells at the Shambhu border, which is close to Ambala. The situation became tense.
The brilliant plan is to use the lengthy kite strings to tangle the drones’ rotors, possibly resulting in a crash.
Earlier today, Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda made an appeal to the farmers, emphasizing the value of amicable communication and pleading with them to refrain from taking any actions that would interfere with the everyday lives of ordinary people.
Farmers Prepare to Confront Barricades Amidst Escalating Standoff
Farmers leaders and the Centre were still at odds, but the farmers were still assembling at the border near Shambhu, getting ready to breach the many layers of barricades. Tractors were gathered by young farmers who were prepared to break down the concrete barriers obstructing their way.
Farmers began to take protective measures as the confrontation worsened as tear gas shells were fired by Haryana security personnel to scatter the demonstrators. To lessen the effect of the tear gas, they prepared themselves by putting on wet clothes, water bottles, and even protective gear.

Renowned farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher criticized the government’s strategy, saying it put corporate interests ahead of the demands of the farmers.
“We implore the government to put an end to everything and guarantee a happy environment. We are prepared for discussions, just as we were yesterday,” Mr. Pandher stated.
The most important of these requests is the passing of legislation that ensures an MSP for crops. The revocation of the Electricity Act 2020, payment to the families of farmers slain in Lakhimpur Kheri, and the dismissal of legal actions against members of the farmers’ movement are other major areas of disagreement.
Both parties were injured in confrontations with the Haryana Police on Tuesday, and the police used water cannons and tear gas.
