Police has retrieved the personal diary of popular YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was recently apprehended for allegedly spying for Pakistan. The diary is said to hold detailed records of her thoughts and journeys, some of which specifically mention her time spent across the border.
Jyoti Malhotra, 33, is one of the 11 individuals arrested from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in the last two weeks on espionage charges, as investigators highlight an alleged Pakistan-connected spy network functioning in North India. Jyoti, the operator of the YouTube channel ‘Travel with JO’, was apprehended from the New Aggarsain Extension in Hisar, Haryana on May 16.
Jyoti frequently carried her diary overseas
As per police sources, Jyoti Malhotra was thorough in documenting her experiences, frequently carrying her diary along on overseas journeys. She documented her thoughts in English as well as in Hindi. Detectives think the diary could offer critical insights about her global ties and alleged actions.
The diary, consisting of around 10-11 pages, features eight pages of general travel observations in English and three pages written in Hindi that concentrate on Pakistan.

‘We belong to the same territory’
A note in Hindi, which she reportedly penned following her trip to Pakistan, stated: “Today I am returning to my country, India, after finishing a 10-day journey across Pakistan. We are uncertain about how long distances of borders will remain, but may the grievances of hearts disappear. We belong to the same territory, the same earth.”
Sources disclosed that Jyoti, in her journal, commended the hospitality she experienced in Pakistan and conveyed her wish for more Indian Hindus to visit their ancestral locations there. She additionally expressed her desire for more accessible religious sites—including temples and gurdwaras—and a wish to reunite with families divided during the 1947 Partition.

Authorities are probing recordings from her trips to Kashmir, where she often traveled with Priyanka Setupati from Puri, Odisha. Investigative authorities have questioned Setupati about her role or awareness of Jyoti Malhotra’s actions.
Investigators state that Malhotra frequently worked late into the night, editing and uploading videos until 1 a.m. She allegedly informed her family that she was going to Delhi, while in reality, she was going to a different location. Her social media updates displayed an extravagant travel lifestyle, featuring an expensive trip to Bali highlighted in one of her vlogs.
