Security forces apprehend multiple insurgents involved in extortion, recruitment, and kidnapping in Manipur, including members of Arambai Tenggol and KCP Taibanganba.

Security forces apprehended three members of the Meitei radical outfit Arambai Tenggol in Imphal West district on Saturday.
The individuals, identified as Thangjam George Singh (28), Abujam Narendra Singh (21), and Wahengbam Amarjit Singh (35), were accused of extortion by issuing challans to drivers of commercial vehicles on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway, police officials confirmed Sunday.
During the operation in Keithelmanbi, authorities seized a printer, nine paper rolls, two handheld wireless sets, and other materials.

In a separate operation, police arrested Leisangthem Rajesh Singh (30), an active member of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba). Singh was involved in extortion, recruitment of cadres, and kidnapping across Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts. He was apprehended from Langmeidong Mamang Awang Leikai in Kakching district. Items recovered from him included three mobile phones, a PAN card, Aadhaar card, voter ID, and a wallet containing ₹2,240.
Additionally, security forces detained Meitram Somorjit Singh, a member of the banned outfit NRFM, from Khumbong Bazar in Imphal West district. Authorities confiscated a firearm, ammunition, five mobile phones, and other articles from his possession.
Ramping Up Operations
Police sources have indicated that the ongoing anti-extortion drive has led to significant disruptions in the activities of insurgent groups operating in Manipur. “We are committed to rooting out extortion and unlawful activities that threaten peace and stability in the state,” a senior officer stated.
Security forces are continuing search operations and intelligence-based raids to track down remaining cadres involved in extortion, violence, and recruitment activities. Authorities urged the public to report any information about extortion or suspicious activities to help maintain peace in the state.
