PM Modi meets Russian President Putin at Brics Summit; says India ready to offer all support to help resolve Ukraine conflict peacefully
During the 16th Brics Summit in Kazan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on Tuesday. During their one-on-one meeting, the Prime Minister stated that India is ready to offer full cooperation to help resolve the Ukraine conflict peacefully.
“I have been in constant touch with you on the subject of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As I have said earlier, we believe that the problems should be resolved in a peaceful manner. We fully support the early establishment of peace and stability. All our efforts give priority to humanity. India is ready to provide all possible cooperation in the times to come,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi remembered his two recent to Russia in the past three months, stating that they reflect strong cooperation and close bond between the two nations.
PM Modi expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at Brics
Besides Putin, PM Modi is expected to have discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and engage in bilateral talks with leaders from the remaining Brics member countries.
In a recent interview with India Today TV, India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar highlighted the country’s commitment to promoting peace and resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. “The issue has been discussed and spoken about. India has consistently held the view that the concerned parties need to engage and find resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
The previous month, Putin referred to PM Modi as a “friend” and thanked India for their support in efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war peacefully. This is when the Russian President invited the Prime Minister to participate in the Brics Summit.
