Prime Minister Modi leads Yoga day celebrations in Srinagar
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations for the 10th International Day of Yoga in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
The event, which was supposed to begin at 6.30 a.m. at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) on the banks of the Dal Lake, was canceled due to severe rain in the city. The arrangements were later moved to indoors.
Later, the Prime Minister shared his photos from Dal Lake when the rain stopped.

‘Yoga for Self and Society’
This year’s program highlights yoga’s powerful impact on children minds and bodies. The celebration aims to bring thousands of people together to practice yoga, promoting worldwide health and wellness.
The theme for this year’s yoga celebrations, “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizes yoga’s critical role in promoting both individual well-being and societal harmony.
PM Modi addresses India on Yoga Day
On the occasion, the Prime Minister addressed a crowd, stating that the day is setting new global records.
PM Modi extended his greetings to the people of the country, saying, “On Yoga Day, I greet the people of the country as well as people practicing yoga all over the world. The number of persons who practice yoga is increasing worldwide.”

“International Yoga Day has completed a historic journey of 10 years. In 2014, I proposed International Yoga Day at the United Nations. This proposal by India was supported by 177 nations and this was a record in itself. Since then, Yoga Day has been creating new records,” he said.
“The spread of yoga over the last ten years has altered its view. Today, the world is witnessing a new yoga economy emerge. Yoga tourism is gaining traction in India, from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala. Tourists from all over the world come to India to study true yoga,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of yoga and its health benefits, adding, “Yoga is for self and society.”
“As we mark 10th International Yoga Day, I urge everyone to make yoga part of their daily lives,” according to him.
The Prime Minister praised Srinagar, saying, “I have had the opportunity to visit the country of ‘yoga’ and’sadhana’. In Srinagar, we can sense the’shakti’ that comes from yoga.”
“Yoga promotes strength, good health, and wellness.” “It’s a pleasure to attend this year’s programme in Srinagar,” the Prime Minister stated.
