Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a review meeting on Saturday following an aerial and ground examination of affected Wayanad areas.
On July 30, large landslides hit Chooralmala and Mundakkai in Wayanad, killing more than 300 people.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Muhammed Khan, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, State Ministers A Rajan, AK Saseendran, PA Mohammed Riyas, and Kerala ADGP (law and order) MR Ajith Kumar.

PM Modi assured all support to the state and survivors in rehabilitation
During the meeting, the Prime Minister pledged his full support for the state and survivors’ rehabilitation. He also stated that the central government will make every attempt to meet all state government requests.
PM Modi stated that as soon as he was told of the situation in Wayanad when the landslides occurred, a Minister of State was dispatched to the state to assess the situation. In addition, NDRF, Army, and Air Force units were dispatched for rescue and relief efforts.
The Prime Minister stated that his heart was heavy as he toured the landslide-affected areas and met the survivors at the relief camp. He emphasized the need of collaborative efforts in rehabilitation.
PM visited the landslide-affected areas earlier
Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited a relief camp and met landslide survivors in Wayanad. The Prime Minister spoke with the survivors in the camp.
PM conducted an aerial assessment of the landslide-affected areas in Wayanad before physically visiting the disaster site to assess relief and rehabilitation operations in the area.
The Prime Minister was informed of the situation by Kerala ADGP (law and order), MR. Ajith Kumar, while he conducted an on-the-ground review of the impacted places. Later in the day, PM Modi is anticipated to preside over a review meeting with the Chief Minister and other authorities.
The state has asked the federal government to designate this as a serious calamity and a national disaster. The Central Government has formed an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) to visit the impacted districts of the State and assess the situation. From August 8 to August 10, the crew will be in the impacted areas.
