India intercepts Pak drones at various locations in J&K and Punjab
On Friday, the Indian military intercepted Pakistani drones at various sites in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as in Pathankot, Punjab, just a day after India successfully prevented similar efforts by the neighboring nation to attack military facilities near the border.
The Indian Army reported that drones were observed in Jammu, Samba, Rajouri, Udhampur, Nagrota, Reasi, Awantipora, Poonch, Akhnoor, along with Pathankot and Amritsar in Punjab. Officials reported that explosions were audible and alarms rang out in the Jammu area as the city experienced darkness for the second night in a row. In Pathankot and Ferozepur districts, loud blasts were reported, but officials have not confirmed what caused the noises, they stated.
India-Pak Tensions Rise Further
The tensions heightened following India’s precise military strike on May 7 against nine terror infrastructure locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), as a reaction to the Pahalgam terror incident on April 22.
The tension with Pakistan escalated when the Indian military reacted proportionately to Pakistani efforts to attack Indian facilities during the night of May 8 and 9.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated at a briefing earlier today that Pakistan breached Indian airspace to strike military targets.
Singh disclosed that Pakistan positioned 300-400 drones at 36 sites, ranging from Leh to Sir Creek, in a bid to strike Indian military locations on Thursday night. Nevertheless, the drones were effectively intercepted and brought down by the Indian military.
