Perth Test: Further humiliation awaits mighty Aussies on Day 4

This could be tough for the Australian team and their captain Pat Cummins. It appeared that way, even if just for a brief moment, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli both scored hundreds while India raced to declare before Australia suffered 3 quick wickets, including Cummins as the nightwatchman, chasing a huge 534-run target.

Australia suffered a humiliating defeat by India in just three days, with the possibility of more humiliation on the fourth day, however it seems a fifth day will be avoided. A usually composed and methodical team has appeared completely different.

It is extremely uncommon to witness this team, under the leadership of Cummins and Andrew McDonald, appear so unorganized in a match. It is extremely uncommon to witness an Australian team so thoroughly outmatched on their home turf.

Australia badly under the hammer

India further solidified their hold on the India vs Australia 1st Test match by showcasing a dominant performance on Day 3. They declared their second Innings at 487 for 6, holding a commanding lead of 533 runs and set a massive target of 534 runs for Australia to chase. India gained an advantage in the Test match by taking three Australian wickets in the final 20 minutes of the day, leaving the home team at 12 for 3 after 4.2 overs at stumps.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) and KL Rahul (72) made history by securing India’s first ever 200 plus partnership for the opening wicket in Australia at the beginning of the day.

Australia made a strong recovery by taking four wickets quickly. Virat Kohli, with his 81st international and 30th Test century, partnered with Washington Sundar (29) for an 89-run sixth-wicket stand, and with Nitish Kumar Reddy (38 not out) for an unbeaten 77-run seventh-wicket partnership, before declaring India’s innings at 487 for 6. This set a target of 534 runs for Australia.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
