On this occasion, various sporting events, felicitation ceremonies, and awareness campaigns were organized across the country. Players, schools, sports organizations, and government institutions came together to highlight the importance of sports and pay homage to the unparalleled contributions of Major Dhyan Chand.

Major Dhyan Chand: The Golden Chapter of Indian Hockey
Major Dhyan Chand’s name is etched in golden letters in the history of Indian sports. Leading India to three consecutive Olympic gold medals in hockey (1928, 1932, and 1936), he is remembered for his extraordinary skills and discipline. Celebrating his birth anniversary as National Sports Day aims to inspire the youth towards sports and promote a sporting culture in the country.
President and Prime Minister Offer Tributes
President of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several other national leaders paid rich tributes to Major Dhyan Chand today. In a social media post, Prime Minister Modi said:

Special Events in Delhi
In the capital city of Delhi, a series of special programs were held to mark National Sports Day. Advocate Nandan Jha, President of the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA), Secretary General of GMF, and Founder & Advisor of SOGF, paid heartfelt tribute to Major Dhyan Chand and also participated in a friendly hockey match.
He felicitated children to encourage their interest and talent in sports. Speaking on the occasion, Nandan Jha said:
