After coming back to the White House, US President-Elect Donald Trump has established a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The official richest man in the world Elon Musk and Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy will lead this department.

The primary goal of this department is to reduce government expenditure and streamline the entire government operations.

In the meantime, it has been revealed that the United States is providing funds to Pakistan for a luxury hotel in New York City that is being utilized to accommodate undocumented individuals in the nation. Vivek Ramaswamy has strongly opposed paying hundreds of millions to Pakistan.

Posting on X, John LeFevre wrote, “The city of New York pays $220 million to rent the entire Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan to house illegal migrants. The hotel is owned by the government of Pakistan, and the deal was part of a $1.1 billion IMF bailout package to help Pakistan avoid defaulting on their international debt.”

Highlighting the bizarre nature of the deal, LeFevre wrote, “Prior to this sweetheart deal, the hotel had been closed since 2020, having long-struggled with occupancy and in dire need of renovation.”

In reaction to the post, Vivek Ramaswamy shared his disappointment about the unusual agreement, and stated, “A taxpayer-funded hotel for illegal migrants is owned by the Pakistani government which means NYC taxpayers are effectively paying a foreign government to house illegals in our own country.”

Vivek Ramaswamy further added, “This is nuts.”

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
