After securing his first win of the season with a fantastic performance at the Paris Diamond League, Neeraj Chopra now shifts his focus to the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 – a World Athletics Continental Tour (Gold level) meeting – scheduled for Tuesday, June 24.
With the 90m barrier finally breached and a title already in his bag, this will be Neeraj’s final competition before he returns home to Bengaluru for the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic on July 5.
This will be Neeraj’s first appearance in the Golden Spike event, as he has been unable to attend in previous years because of injury.
However, this time, the 27-year-old comes in with confidence on his side, experiencing a solid streak of success under Jan Zelezny’s direction. This will be his fifth appearance of the season, after notable showings at the Diamond League events in Doha and Paris.

“I am really happy to work with such a great athlete and coach. I’ve already thrown 90m this year after a little bit more improvement in technique. So, let’s see when it comes next time, but I am ready,” said Neeraj.
Memorable Win at Paris Diamond League
Neeraj triumphed over Julian Weber to secure the Paris Diamond League title with a throw of 88.16m last week. The two-time Olympic medallist expressed confidence in achieving positive outcomes, thanks to his determination and having Czech legend Jan Zelezny as his coach.
The 27-year-old is experiencing a boost from his first 90 m-plus throw, which he accomplished at the season-opening Diamond League event in Doha.
“I am truly pleased to collaborate with such an amazing athlete and coach. I’ve thrown 90m this year after making some improvements in my technique. Let’s check it out next time, but I am prepared. Recently, we completed a successful training session in Nymburk (Czech Republic). “Therefore, I will give it my all here in Ostrava,” he stated.
