Nayab Singh Saini takes oath as Chief Minister of Haryana along with 13 other cabinet ministers

On Thursday, October 17, BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana, beginning his second term in the top position. Saini’s cabinet members were also sworn in at the high-profile event in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent BJP members.

Saini was sworn in by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, taking the oath of office and secrecy. The inauguration occurred at the Dussehra Ground in Panchkula, with Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and chief ministers from NDA-governed states in attendance.

In an indication that all is fine within Haryana BJP, Saini appeared on stage alongside his predecessor and mentor Manohar Lal Khattar, at the swearing-in ceremony. Anil Vij, a senior leader who was speculated to be a contender for Chief Minister, was sworn in as a minister in the Saini 2.0 Cabinet.

Haryana can have a maximum of 14 ministers, including the Chief Minister. Following are the members of the newly formed Cabinet:

Nayab Singh Saini
Anil Vij
Krishan Lal Panwar
Rao Narbir Singh
Mahipal Dhanda
Vipul Goel
Arvind Kumar Sharma
Shruti Choudhry
Shyam Singh Rana

Who is Nayab Singh Saini

After taking over as Chief Minister from Khattar months ago, Saini led the BJP to a landmark win in the Haryana Assembly elections on October 5. Contrary to exit poll forecasts, the saffron party secured victory in 48 out of 90 seats, securing a third consecutive term in the state government.

The 54-year-old Dalit leader, who successfully ran for and secured victory in the Ladwa constituency in Kurukshetra district, was chosen as the BJP’s legislature party leader in Haryana on Wednesday by unanimous decision. After that, he encountered Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and asserted his right to establish the upcoming state government.

Saini, who is a well-known OBC leader for the BJP in Haryana, had previously been a Member of Parliament for Kurukshetra in the Lok Sabha. He was born in Ambala on January 25, 1970, and obtained his bachelor’s and law degrees from BR Ambedkar Bihar University and Charan Singh University.

Saini has been involved in the BJP’s Haryana unit since 1996, initially serving as district general secretary of the party’s youth wing in 2002 before becoming district president of the Yuva Morcha in 2005. He subsequently served important positions, such as Ambala district president and general secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
