In Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, Naxals detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) that resulted in the deaths of eight District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel and a driver. The explosion happened on the Bedre-Kutru Road in the area.

The security team was coming back from a mission when the incident occurred. The DRG is a division of the state police force.

“The security forces were heading back to the base camp after a joint mission in Dantewada, Narayanpur, and Bijapur when, approximately at 2.15 pm on January 6, unknown Maoists set off an IED close to Ambeli village in the Kutru police station region of Bijapur district,” stated Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bastar.

“We will soon release a detailed statement on this,” the official added.

An official stated that this is the largest attack on security forces by Naxalites in the past two years.

On April 26, 2023, a civilian driver and ten police officers lost their lives when Naxals detonated their vehicle, which was included in a convoy transporting security forces in the adjacent Dantewada district.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai extended his condolences for the loss of the security personnel, labeling the event as “deeply distressing.”

“My sympathies are with the families of the fallen.” “I pray to God for peace for the souls of the fallen soldiers and to grant strength to their mourning families,” he stated.

“The Naxalites are angered by the continuing Naxal elimination efforts in Bastar and are committing these cowardly acts due to their frustration. The sacrifice of the soldiers will not be in vain; our battle to eradicate Naxalism will persist with vigor,” he mentioned.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh reacted to the incident and said, “Whenever big operations are conducted against them, these Naxalites resort to cowardly attacks. I express my condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in this attack. The significant steps being taken by the Chhattisgarh government and the central government will continue to move forward.”

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
