Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of various cities throughout the United States chanting slogans and carrying signs during a second round of significant protests against President Donald Trump and his stringent policies on Saturday.
The most recent protest of this kind, the first since Trump assumed office in January this year, took place on April 5, called the ‘Hands Off’ protests.
Protestors chant slogans like ‘No kings in America’ and ‘Resist tyranny’
In New York, individuals assembled outside the central library, chanting phrases like “No kings in America” and “Resist tyranny.”
Numerous demonstrators also condemned Trump’s decision to deport undocumented immigrants and shouted, “No ICE, no fear, immigrants are welcome here.” Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been given the task to pursue the “illegal aliens” and send them back to their homeland.
In Washington, they claimed that the President was endangering the long-held constitutional principles in the US, which also encompassed the right to due process.
A 41-year-old demonstrator informed AFP that the Trump administration was attacking the “idea of the rule of law and the idea that the government should be restrained from abusing the people who live in the US”.

Holding a placard demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian student detained last month, the protester claimed that individuals were being singled out by the administration as “test cases to rile up xenophobia.”
Another demonstrator, Kathy Valy, 73, whose parents were Holocaust survivors, stated that they are in “great danger,” emphasizing that the narratives of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler’s ascent to power “are what’s happening here.”
In Texas, known for its strong conservatism, the coastal city of Galveston saw a modest assembly of protesters opposing Donald Trump.
A few hundred individuals assembled on a San Francisco beach and displayed the phrase “IMPEACH + REMOVE,” as reported by the *San Francisco Chronicle*. In a place nearby, a few displayed the US flag upside down, symbolizing distress.
Organizers aim to transform public outrage regarding Trump’s immigration policies, budget reductions, and pressures on universities, media, and law firms into a sustained movement.
The primary organizer of Saturday’s demonstrations, a group named 50501 (representing 50 protests across 50 states and one movement), announced that about 400 protests were scheduled.
The organization urged millions to participate in the protests on Saturday, yet the attendance appeared less than the nationwide “Hands Off” demonstrations that occurred on April 5.
