Supreme Court Justice B R. Gavai stated on Sunday that the issues in conflict-ridden Manipur can be addressed through constitutional methods.
“This is a difficult phase, but with the collective efforts of the executive, legislature, and judiciary, Manipur will overcome these challenges,” Justice Gavai said, while ddressing the Duodecennial Celebration event of the Manipur high court in Imphal.
“All issues can be resolved using constitutional methods. If there is conversation, the answer will be close. Individuals residing in relief camps wish to go back to their houses. I am optimistic that thanks to the governor’s efforts, peace and normalcy will soon return to Manipur,” he stated.

“We are celebrating 75 years since the adoption of the Constitution. When we look at India in relation to our neighboring countries, we recognize that our Constitution has maintained our strength and unity. Similar to how Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, or Jammu and Kashmir are components of India, Manipur and the other seven sisters are likewise essential to our country. “We aim for the nation’s unity,” he said.
Justice Gavai headed a team of five Supreme Court justices who reached Imphal on Saturday, participating in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) initiative to oversee current efforts assisting communities impacted by ethnic conflicts in the state, which began in May 2023.
The other judges in the delegation included justices Vikram Nath, M M Sundresh, K V Viswanathan, and N Kotiswar Singh.
