A man from Tamil Nadu’s Vellore was arrested after a video of him wearing a burqa and dancing during Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations went viral.
Police had received a complaint stating that a video of a man wearing a burqa and dancing during Ganesh Chathurthi on September 21 had gone viral and sought action.
A team started an inquiry based on the complaint and determined that the individual in the video was Arunkumar from Viruthampattu.
Arunkumar was subsequently detained for seeking to incite animosity between two groups. Police also issued a strong warning that anyone who tries to offend religious sensibilities will face harsh punishment.
Additional investigation is in progress, and police are searching for other parties who may have been involved.
