A man from Delhi was detained for reportedly murdering his wife in Prayagraj while claiming he was taking her to Maha Kumbh, according to the police.
The individual, named Ashok Kumar, reportedly cut the throat of his spouse, Meenakshi, in the bathroom of a homestay located in the Jhunsi area on the evening of February 18 in the sacred city where they had arrived from Trilokpuri in Delhi.
On the morning of February 19, the Prayagraj Police were informed that a woman’s body had been discovered in the bathroom of a homestay serving as a guesthouse for Maha Kumbh pilgrims.
When the police began their investigation into the incident, they discovered that the couple had checked into the homestay the night before and had been given the room without any ID verification.
When the manager arrived at the crime scene in the morning, he notified the police.

The authorities shared the woman’s picture on social media and in newspapers to determine who she is. On February 21, the kin of the deceased recognized her.
Meenakshi’s sibling, Pravesh Kumar, along with her two children, arrived in Prayagraj after seeing the photos and verified her identity at the Jhunsi police station. The authorities filed a case against Ashok and took him into custody.
