Authorities are probing all angles—including personal, professional, and security threats—after the officer failed to return on June 2.

June 5, 2025: A senior Indian Army officer of Lieutenant Colonel rank has been missing for over two days from Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, triggering an intense, multi-agency search operation involving the Army, state police, and intelligence units.

Lieutenant Colonel Pradeep Nigam, an officer of the infantry regiment and a native of Gwalior, was last seen around 6:30 AM on June 2, when he reportedly left his residence in the cantonment area of Sagar for his routine morning walk. He failed to report for the morning physical training (PT) session, leading to immediate concern within the unit.

When initial checks within the Army campus yielded no trace of him, the Army formally lodged a missing person’s complaint at the Cantt Police Station later that evening. Since then, both uniformed personnel and civil police have been combing the area, searching for any clues to his disappearance.

Security forces have extended the search beyond the military zone into surrounding civilian areas. Local law enforcement has begun collecting digital and technical evidence, including call records and surveillance footage from both inside and outside the cantonment.

Police sources confirmed that teams are questioning fellow officers, subordinates, domestic staff, and others who may have interacted with the officer recently. CCTV footage from residential and commercial areas near the cantonment is being reviewed, and mobile data is being analyzed for any irregular activity.

The sudden disappearance of an officer at this senior level—without prior signs of stress or personal distress—has raised alarms in Army and intelligence circles. Officers familiar with the matter stated that cases like this are extremely rare and are being treated with the highest priority.

Sources suggest that both personal and professional angles are being examined, including any potential threats, mental health concerns, or security breaches. As the hours stretch with no breakthrough, concern within the armed forces community continues to grow.

Nigam’s family, who reside in Gwalior, have been informed and are reportedly in close contact with Army officials. No ransom or communication suggesting abduction has surfaced so far.

The Army has not released an official statement but is believed to be coordinating with central intelligence agencies given the sensitivities involved in the disappearance of an officer with access to operational information.
