Akhilesh Yadav to Contest Lok Sabha Elections from Kannauj
Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), will run for Lok Sabha from the Kannauj seat in Uttar Pradesh. Today, April 24, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav verified the information.
The incumbent Member of Parliament, Subrat Pathak, has been fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for Kannauj, which holds its fourth phase of elections on May 13.
Tej Pratap Singh Yadav has been fielded by the SP for the parliamentary seat. Former party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his spouse Dimple held the seat. In addition to being Akhilesh Yadav’s nephew, Tej Pratap is the son-in-law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. He was a former MP from Mainpuri. Raj Laxmi Yadav, Lalu’s daughter, is his spouse. Tej Pratap is the grandson of Ranveer Singh, the brother of the late SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. From 2014 to 2019, he served as Mainpuri MP.

Overview of Candidate Numbers and Political Activities in Uttar Pradesh’s Second Phase Elections
The seats in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Mathura are up for grabs, with a maximum of 15 candidates per seat. In Bulandshahr, six candidates are vying for the presidency. There are twelve contenders running in Amroha, eight in Meerut, seven in Baghpat, and fourteen in Ghaziabad and Aligarh.
1,67,77,198 voters will decide these candidates’ fates. During this phase, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow in Ghaziabad and spoke at election gatherings in Aligarh and Meerut. The outcome of the second phase will also determine whether BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali, who defected to the Congress to take the Amroha seat, can replicate his previous achievements.
In the second phase, it will also be decided what will happen to Ghaziabad BJP MLA Atul Garg, who was the Minister of State during the first term of the Yogi government. In addition to holding a roadshow in Meerut and public meetings in Amroha and Baghpat, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke at a public meeting in Gautam Buddha Nagar in support of the BJP candidate.
Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, supported his party’s candidates during this phase by holding open forums in Aligarh and Baghpat. BSP chief Mayawati held public gatherings in Aligarh and Meerut to solicit support for her party’s candidates. Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav participated in a joint rally organized by the I.N.D.I.A bloc in Amroha, and they also held a joint press conference in Ghaziabad.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 62 of the 80 seats in the 2019 general elections. It also added two seats that its ally Apna Dal (S) won. Ten seats were won by Mayawati’s BSP and five by Akhilesh Yadav’s SP. In contrast, the Congress party managed to secure a mere one seat.As for the BJP and PM Modi, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav attacked them on Monday, accusing them of being disrespectful of the constitution.
