Israel’s defense minister stated Thursday that Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei “can no longer be allowed to exist,” following an Iranian missile strike that targeted an Israeli hospital.

The minister stated that Khamenei will be held responsible for the hospital strike.

“Khamenei openly declares his desire for Israel’s annihilation — he directly commands attacks on hospitals. “Izrael Katz informed reporters in Holon, near Tel Aviv, that he views the annihilation of the state of Israel as an objective.”

Israeli officials announced on Thursday that they are ramping up attacks on “strategic targets” in Iran, following a wave of Iranian missiles that injured many across the nation and damaged a hospital. The clash between the two nations continues to escalate while President Donald Trump did not rule out the option of US military action against Iran’s nuclear sites.

Iran announced today that the primary objective of the missile strike that struck a hospital in southern Israel was an Israeli military and intelligence base, rather than the medical facility. Israeli rescue teams stated that a minimum of 47 individuals sustained injuries in the assault.

Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza Hospital

On May 13, 2025, Israeli airstrikes struck the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza, one of the biggest medical centers in the area, causing considerable devastation and casualties.

The assault included the release of at least nine bunker-busting bombs along with many other explosives in a span of 30 seconds, resulting in significant destruction to the hospital’s infrastructure, such as its entrance, emergency department, and access paths.

At least 28 individuals lost their lives and more than 40 were hurt, as the hospital’s water supply was severed and the majority of its 200 patients were evacuated.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that from October 2023 to September 2024, almost 500 assaults on healthcare facilities in Gaza occurred, causing hundreds of fatalities, including among medical personnel, and rendering the majority of hospitals either partially or fully non-operational.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
