The state is currently experiencing the statewide bandh that pro-Kannada organizations in Karnataka announced in protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Pro-Kannada groups organized protests and banner-waving at various sites as the band got going at six in the morning. Numerous locations across the state have seen the detention of hundreds of demonstrators from various organizations.
As many as 44 flights were cancelled at the Bengaluru International Airport amid the protests. The protesters reached the airport and shouted slogans, leading to chaos. They were detained later.
The dawn-to-dusk protest had an impact on daily life because many businesses, including transportation, lodging, and restaurants, stayed closed throughout the state.
Several protest marches were held throughout the state, notably in Bengaluru, the state’s capital. All educational institutions in the districts of Bengaluru and Mandya are still closed, and the city is subject to section 144 restrictions.
