New Delhi:

Vice President Kamala Harris’s election loss has sparked speculation about her future path. A CNN legal analyst suggested that the 60-year old could be nominated to the supreme court and replace 70-year old liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Harris was the San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General before she was elected senator.

Harris is yet to address concerns about her future. Republican nominee Donald Trump crossed the 270 electoral vote threshold on Tuesday- making him the new president- elect. His opponent, the VP, conceded the election on Wednesday.

Now, attorney and former democratic member of the South Carolina House of Representatives Bakari Seller’s suggestion has sparked speculation about Kamala Harris getting on the Supreme Court bench. He said that she could replace Sotomayor.

Harris has never been a judge. However, that should not be a problem. Former President George W. Bush nominated John Roberts as Supreme Court Chief justice, even though Roberts had never been a judge. Roberts had experience arguing cases before the apex court, which Harris does not.

Considering Democratic Party-aligned independents, Democrats currently have a 51-49 majority in the senate. This means clearing presidential nominations to he supreme court should not be an issue. Republicans won a senate majority in the November 5 elections, but the new senators will not take their seats until January.

Sellers said that putting Harris on the supreme court would give the vice president a new role. “I think that’s actually a very good plan. I think it’s something that should happen,” he added.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
