US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden honored former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and conveyed their sympathies to India. Describing him as “a devoted public servant and a modest individual,” the US President attributed the remarkable degree of bilateral collaboration to his strategic foresight and political bravery.
A statement from the White House stated, “Jill and I stand with the people of India in mourning the passing of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In this challenging moment, we reaffirm our dedication to the vision that Prime Minister Singh devoted his life to. Jill and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to former First Lady Gursharan Kaur, their three children, and all the citizens of India.”
The previous Prime Minister, who was India’s inaugural Sikh prime minister, passed away in New Delhi on Thursday night (December 26). He was ninety-two.

“The unprecedented level of cooperation between the United States and India today would not have been possible without the Prime Minister’s strategic vision and political courage,” Biden remarked in a statement that he and First Lady Jill Biden stood with the people of India in mourning the passing of the former prime minister.
“From forging the US-India Civil Nuclear Agreement to helping launch the first Quad between Indo-Pacific partners, he charted path-breaking progress that will continue to strengthen our nations—and the world—for generations to come. He was a true statesman. A dedicated public servant. And above all, he was a kind and humble person,” Biden said.
