Along with his son, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, the leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) is also charged in the sex scandal that has shook the country and Karnataka and led to attacks on his party and its ally, the BJP, from the Congress and other parties.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was formed to look into the sex scandal, detained the 66-year-old former minister on Saturday for kidnapping a lady who used to serve as a help at his home last month. The former minister is the son of former prime minister Deve Gowda.

The woman’s son filed the kidnapping case and also claimed that Prajwal Revanna had sexually molested her. Sathish Babanna, HD Revanna’s assistant, was also taken into custody with him.
Revanna was brought before the Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru following the conclusion of his SIT custody, and the court placed him under judicial custody till May 14.
Hassan Sex Scandal
A day after the April 26 votes in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, where Prajwal Revanna is a candidate, the sex scandal came to light.
Videos of numerous women being sexually abused started making the rounds. In some of the recordings, Prajwal Revanna is also purportedly seen abusing women sexually.
Prajwal Revanna, a current MP from Hassan and the grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, was there in the middle of it all. In response to allegations of sexual abuse and exploitation involving the Hassan MP, the Karnataka government established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on April 27 at the request of the State Commission for Women.

The JDS, which is running in an alliance with the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections, later suspended the 33-year-old leader, who had departed for Germany the day the tapes surfaced.
The MP has been the target of a blue corner alert, which requests assistance in locating an individual from Interpol member states.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the criticism of the BJP-JDS alliance by saying that Prajwal Revanna should be treated with absolute zero tolerance and accused the Congress leadership of having permitted the JDS MP to leave the country.
