BJP’s updated list for J&K poll candidates revealed after revisions

The BJP revealed an updated list of 15 candidates for the initial round of the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls. The saffron party had initially announced the names of 44 candidates for upcoming J&K polls, but then withdrew the list due to the requirement for changes.

India Today sources reported that a number of senior BJP leaders were displeased about not seeing their names included in the initial list of candidates.

BJP has fielded only one woman candidate, Shagun Parihar, from Kishtwar

Significantly, on the updated roster, a Kashmiri Pandit named Vir Saraf from Anantnag East-Shangus has been selected from the Kashmir Valley, showing a noteworthy effort to include the Pandit community.

The party has nominated only Shagun Parihar, a female candidate, to compete in Kishtwar.

The initial list of candidates is lacking three important figures: Ravinder Raina, the BJP president of Jammu and Kashmir, along with former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta. Yet, there is a chance that they might appear on the upcoming list.

Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are scheduled to be held in three phases from September 18 to October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
