IPL 2025: Franchises reveal players they will retain for upcoming auctions
The IPL retentions have been announced as the 10 franchises have revealed the players they will retain for the upcoming 2025 auctions. Several unexpected developments occurred as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul were all released by their previous teams. When it comes to MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, both will continue their connection with Chennai and Mumbai respectively.
CSK retain Iconic MS Dhoni, Ruturaj, Jadeja, Pathirana and Shivam Dube
CSK opted to utilize the infamous ‘uncapped player’ rule to retain Dhoni while also choosing to retain captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja for 18 crores each, Matheesha Pathirana for 13 crores, and Shivam Dube for 12 crores.
MI retain Bumrah, Hardik, SKY, Rohit and Tilak
On the flip side, MI opted to select Jasprit Bumrah as their top choice for 18 crores, with Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav following closely behind at 16.35 crores. Rohit Sharma was kept for 16.30 crores while Tilak Varma was retained for 8 by the 5-time champions.
KKR retain Narine, Russell, Rinku, Varun, Harshit and Ramandeep; release Shreyas
Before the auctions, KKR, the winners of 2024, chose to retain Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh. Rinku was their most expensive choice at 13 crores, while Russell, Narine, and Chakaravarthy each received 12 crores. Players Harshit and Ramnadeep are retained for four crores each without any limit.
SRH retain Klaasen, Cummins, Head, Abhishek and Nitish Reddy
SRH chose to keep their star players including Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Klaasen has been chosen again for a massive 23 crores, while Cummins has been picked for 18 crores and Head and Abhishek for 14 crores each. Nitish Kumar Reddy’s contract has been renewed for a sum of 6 crores.
RCB retain Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal
RCB chose to keep Virat Kohli for 21 crores, while re-signing Rajat Patidar for 11 crores and acquiring Yash Dayal for 5.
LSG release captain KL Rahul; retain Pooran, Bishnoi, Mayank, Mohsin and Badoni
LSG made the decision to release KL Rahul and keep Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni. Lucknow kept Pooran for 21 crores, Bishnoi and Mayank for 11 crores each, and Mohsin and Badoni for the standard 4 crores as uncapped players.
PBKS retain Shashank, Prabhsimran
PBKS chose to hold 2 uncapped players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. The first one was kept for 5.5 crores, while the second one received 4.
RR retain Sanju, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi, Sandeep, Jurel and Hetmyer
Rajasthan Royals opted to retain their Indian core comprising of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, and Sandeep Sharma while also introducing Shimron Hetmyer into the team. Rajasthan kept Samson as their top choice for 18 crores and also awarded Jaiswal with the same amount. Jurel and Parag each received 14 crores, Hetmyer got 11 crores, and Sandeep was awarded 4 crores.

GT retain Rashid, Gill, Sai, Shahrukh and Tewatia
GT kept Rashid Khan as their top pick for 18 crores, whereas Shubman Gill agreed to a reduced salary and was retained for 16.5 crores. Sai Sudharsan was re-acquired by the franchise for 8.5 crores, whereas Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia were both kept for 4 crores each.
DC release Pant; retain Axar, Kuldeep, Stubbs and Porel
Finally, DC made the bold call to cut Pant from their line-up and decided to keep Axar Patel as their main pick at 16.5 crores. Kuldeep Yadav was the No.2 pick at 13.25 crores with Tristan Stubbs beinf retained for 10 crores while Abhishek Porel was brought back as an uncapped player for 4 crores.
