IPL Retentions: Legendary MS Dhoni retained by CSK for the IPL 2025 season
MS Dhoni will be participating in the IPL 2025 season. At 43 years old, Dhoni will play for the five-time champions in the next T20 league season.
Dhoni was kept on as an uncapped player for INR 4 crore, following a rule permitting the retention of players as uncapped if they have not played international cricket for over five years.
Dhoni has been absent from International cricket since July 2019 and announced his retirement in August 2020. However, Dhoni has continued to play for the Super Kings.
Other players like Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 crore), Shivam Dube (12 crore), and Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 crore) have been retained by the Super Kings.
Fans, meanwhile, greeted Dhoni as the iconic CSK player gears up for his 18th IPL season. Except for his two seasons with Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 and 2017 during CSK’s suspension, Dhoni has remained with the Super Kings.
“MS Dhoni retained. He will be there in IPL 2025. What a man. Great dedication to play,” one fan wrote.
