On Monday, a case was filed against Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram, and 16 additional individuals under the Prevention of SC-ST Atrocities Act.
Durgappa, the complainant and a former IISc professor from the tribal Bovi community, claimed he was unjustly targeted in a honey trap case in 2014, resulting in his dismissal.
Durgappa, a faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at IISc, stated that he experienced caste-based harassment and threats.

The FIR was filed at the Sadashivnagar police station in Bengaluru, based on orders from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court.
As this story was being written, there had been no reply from the IISc faculty or from Gopalakrishnan, who is also a member of the IISc Board of Trustees.
Additional individuals charged in the case are Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadhyay K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan.
