On Thursday, India firmly denounced Pakistan for allegedly conducting “state funerals” for terrorists who were killed in India’s operations against terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The government strongly condemned Islamabad, implying that granting “state funerals” to terrorists might have become a norm in Pakistan.
India rejects Pak’s claims that civilians were killed in Operation Sindoor
It looks like giving ‘state funerals’ to terrorists has become quite common in Pakistan. However, India condemned the act and also rejected Pakistan’s claims that civilians were killed in India’s Operation Sindoor.
During a press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri displayed a photograph featuring uniformed personnel from the Pakistani Army and police praying behind the coffins of the deceased terrorists, raised questions about the message that this photograph sends. In a particular case, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was observed conducting the funeral prayers.
“If only civilians were killed in these attacks, I wonder what message this picture actually sends to all of you. This is the question that is worth asking. It’s also odd that the funerals of civilians are carried out with the coffins being draped in Pakistani flags and state honours being accorded,” he said.
