The Oval, London:

India captain Shubman Gill revealed a powerful motivational catchphrase shared by head coach Gautam Gambhir during the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy: “Not a young team, but young guns”. The mantra was aimed at instilling confidence and intent in the team, placing emphasis on performance rather than age or inexperience.

A Mantra Meant to Inspire

Gill explained that the slogan embodied Gambhir’s philosophy: belief and resilience matter more than youth or seniority. It encouraged younger players to step up with conviction and authority, regardless of their age.

Context in a High-Pressure Series

The mantra resonated across a tense and fiercely competitive Test series. As India battled on English soil, Gambhir’s message served as a psychological anchor for the squad, reminding them to play with grit. Gill reflected that this determined mindset helped sustain India through tight moments and mounting pressure situations.

Leadership and Communicated Belief

Ahead of the same tour, Gill had shared that both Gambhir and assistant coach Ajit Agarkar encouraged him to simply express himself without overthinking expectations. Their support, he said, allowed him to lead with authenticity as captain and batter.
In a series defined by back-and-forth swings in momentum, Gambhir’s mantra helped forge a strong character within the squad. Gill himself delivered consistent performances, and his approach reflected a broader trend: a new-look Indian side willing to assert itself with assured aggression precisely as Gambhir intended.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
