Badminton: BWF Hylo Open begins from October 29; CTC is the defending champion
The Hylo Open 2024 BWF tournament is set to commence on October 29 and conclude on November 3 in Saarbrucken, Germany.
Chou Tien-chen, a Taiwanese badminton player, won the men’s singles title at the Hylo Open last year and is now ranked 9th in the world, holding the top seed position. China’s Beiwen Zhang won the women’s singles title, whereas Danish star Line Kjærsfeldt is the top seed in the women’s category.

Sathish Kumar takes on compatriot Chirag Sen in the first round

Indian rising star Sathish Kumar Karunakaran was born 20 May 2001.  In 2020, he played for the Chennai Superstarz in the Indian Premier Badminton League.Â

CHIRAG SEN
Born on 22 July 1998, Chirag Sen is an Indian badminton player who belongs to a badminton family. His father, D. K. Sen, is a coach in India and his brother, Lakshya Sen, is also a prominent international badminton player.
Chirag had beaten Kaushal Dharmamer and won the title of 2014 Sushant Chipalkaatti Memorial India Junior International Badminton Championship.
He also claimed a gold medal in men’s doubles category with his brother Lakshya at the 2015 BWF Junior International.

From India, Malvika Bansod is seeded sixth in women’s singles, and Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj will also be competing. In men’s singles, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran is seeded seventh, joined by world-ranked Ayush Shetty. Other Indian players to watch include Tharun Mannepalli and Chirag Sen.
In women’s doubles, Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra will represent India, while Sathish will team up with Aadya Variyath in the mixed doubles event.
The prize money for the Hylo Open BWF 500 tournament is set at USD 210,000.
