Four adults, including an Indian national, were found dead from gunshot wounds inside a Lawrenceville residence in US early Friday. Police said the accused, husband of the woman, was later arrested after being located nearby.

January 24, 2026: A 51-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his wife and three other relatives in a suspected domestic violence incident early Friday morning, January 23, 2026, at a residence in unincorporated Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County.
Gwinnett County Police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire around 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 1000 block of Brook Ivy Court. Upon arrival, officers found four adults inside the residence, all suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
The suspect, identified as Vijay Kumar (51) of Atlanta, was located shortly after the incident. Police said Kumar was found hiding in a nearby wooded area with the assistance of a tracking dog and was taken into custody without incident.

The victims were identified as:

Police said three children, estimated to be 7, 10, and 12 years old, including one believed to be Kumar’s child, were present in the home during the shooting. The children were physically unharmed and reportedly hid inside a closet to protect themselves. Authorities said the 12-year-old child called 911, providing critical information that helped officers reach the scene quickly. The children were later placed in the care of family members.

Police said the case is being investigated as a domestic-related incident, citing an alleged family dispute as the context for the violence. Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive or the precise relationships among the victims beyond the confirmed spousal link.
The Consulate General of India in Atlanta confirmed that one of the victims was an Indian national and expressed condolences to the family.
“We are deeply grieved by a tragic shooting incident linked to an alleged family dispute, in which an Indian national was among the victims. The alleged shooter has been arrested, and all possible assistance is being extended to the bereaved family,” the consulate said in a statement.
