An emotional PR Sreejesh paid tributes to his goalkeeping gloves after clinching a bronze medal in Paris Olympics.
Sreejesh, one of the finest Indian hockey players of all time, was in tears after India achieved a dramatic 2-1 victory over Spain on Thursday, August 8. Sreejesh bowed to his equipment before exiting the field.
This was the first moment since 1972 that Team India had won successive medals at Olympics. Harmanpreet Singh netted a brace after India fell behind in the contest to help them win their record-extending 13th hockey medal at the Olympics.

Sreejesh was born in Kizhakkambalam, a suburb of Kochi, Kerala, to a modest farming family. His father’s sacrifice of selling their cow to buy a hockey outfit sparked his early passion in the sport.
Despite being mocked for his traditional dress and Malayalam accent, Sreejesh persisted, motivated by his father’s constant support. He went to the GV Raja Sports School in Thiruvananthapuram, where his instructor suggested he take up goalkeeping. This decision would be essential in molding his career.
