Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal declared on Saturday that if the party wins the Assembly elections, it will launch a program offering free electricity and water to tenants.

During a press conference on Saturday, Kejriwal stated, “We have provided free electricity and water to the people of Delhi. It is regrettable that tenants are not able to receive these benefits. Today, I would like to declare that if our government is established following the elections, we will implement a system to provide free electricity and water for tenants.”

“The majority of tenants in Delhi hail from Purvanchal, and a significant number of them are quite poor. They encounter financial difficulties as they are unable to access the subsidies. To tackle this, we will start supplying free electricity and water to the tenants as well if we regain power,” he added.

The AAP, striving for a third consecutive win in the capital, has rolled out various initiatives to attract voters in anticipation of the February 5 elections.

One of the key schemes announced by the party is the commitment to increase the monthly grant for women voters in Delhi from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,100 if it secures victory in the elections.

The party has additionally pledged free healthcare for individuals over 60 through the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana.’

It has also committed to provide an honorarium of Rs 18,000 monthly for priests and granthis at gurdwaras through its Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana.

The AAP has pledged to offer life and accident insurance of Rs 15 lakh to autorickshaw drivers, who have been a crucial support group for the party since its electoral entry in 2013, if it gains power in the capital.

In addition to insurance, it has pledged financial aid of Rs 1 lakh for the weddings of their daughters, as well as a uniform allowance of Rs 2,500 biannually for the autorickshaw drivers.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
