Hemant Soren expected to return as Jharkhand CM
Hemant Soren, who was released from prison after being arrested in connection with an alleged land scam, is expected to return as Chief Minister of Jharkhand. According to insiders, the change of guard occurred when INDIA alliance MLAs and leaders reached an agreement on the Chief Minister’s replacement.
Hemant Soren remained in the Birsa Munda Central Jail for five months before being granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court on June 28 in connection with a money laundering case.
Champai Soren is set to retire as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister by late evening, around 8 p.m., according to reports.
The INDIA bloc met at the Chief Minister’s house in Ranchi.

Hemant Soren will be sworn in as Jharkhand CM for the third time
Hemant Soren will be sworn in for the third time as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister. He will be the 13th chief minister of Jharkhand, which was formed from Bihar in 2000.
Champai Soren is being considered for a new role as chairman of the UPA coordinating committee and working president of JMM.
In addition to Hemant Soren’s brother Basant and wife Kalpana, Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir and state president Rajesh Thakur attended the INDIA bloc meeting.

BJP takes a dig at Hemant Soren
Meanwhile, while setting the tone for the BJP’s onslaught, MP Nishikant Dubey wrote on X that the “Champai Soren era is over in Jharkhand.”
Taking aim at JMM, he said, “In the family-oriented party, persons outside the family have no political potential. I wish the chief minister would take inspiration from Bhagwan Birsa Munda and stand up to the crooked Hemant Soren ji.”
The 67-year-old Champai Soren, a veteran JMM leader, has been with party founder and Hemant Soren’s father, Shibu Soren, for decades now.
