'He Will Go Very Well in Perth...' Matthew Hayden Thinks Bowler Could Do Wonder in Australia

The upcoming Test series between India and Australia has sparked discussions about India’s bowling attack, especially with veteran pacer Mohammed Shami’s absence. Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden shared his insights on potential replacements for India, focusing on Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep. Hayden acknowledged Prasidh Krishna’s strong outing in a recent unofficial Test against Australia A. However, he believes Akash Deep is better suited to fill Shami’s shoes.

Matthew Hayden’s Statement

“Prasidh Krishna did very well in the unofficial test, but for me , Akash Deep is the closest replacement for Shami’s style of role, ” he said during a select India interaction organized by Channel 7.

Hayden, who has played against India and has extensive experience, highlighted Akash Deep’s suitability for Australian pitches. He specifically mentioned Perth and Adelaide, known for favoring fast bowlers.

“I think he [Akash Deep] will go very well in Perth and Adelaide,” he said.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy begins on Friday at Perth’s Optus Stadium, putting the two teams in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings against each other. Both India and Australia are eying for a place in the WTC Final. India, aiming to bounce back to the WTC Final Race after a heavy defeat at home that too after 12 years against New Zealand, Australia, on the other hand, is looking to end their streak of two consecutive home series defeats against India.

Hayden’s insights have added another layer of anticipation to the series, with fans and experts keen to see the final team compositions for what promises to be a captivating contest.
