The central government has called an all-party meeting to inform opposition leaders about the recent Operation Sindoor, which aimed at nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (POK) as a reaction to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that resulted in 26 civilian deaths.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared on X regarding the suggested meeting hours after the armed forces executed a precision military strike in the neighboring country, targeting infrastructure associated with outlawed terrorist groups, such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

“Govt has called an All Party leaders meeting at 11 am on 8th May, 2025 at Committee Room: G-074, in the Parliament Library Building, Parliament Complex in New Delhi,” the Union Minister said.

Sources indicate that opposition leaders will receive updates on the objectives of Operation Sindoor, the targets eliminated by the military, and India’s readiness in the event of a response from Pakistan.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Kiren Rijiju will represent the government during the meeting.

‘Expect PM Modi to attend’: Congress

The Congress anticipates that, in contrast to the all-party meeting after the Pahalgam terror incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will “at the very least” attend the forthcoming gathering. “We anticipate that PM Modi will participate in at least tomorrow’s meeting with all parties. We had asked for the PM to be present on April 24, but he was absent. He must atleast be present tomorrow,” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated to reporters.

Ramesh also verified that Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, will be present at the meeting.

Political figures from various parties lauded the military, demonstrating uncommon solidarity and committing to assist the government on issues related to national security.

The Congress, Left parties, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) unitedly expressed their backing for the initiative and pledged complete support for any measures to eliminate terrorism.

On Wednesday, the government verified that the Indian military executed a “measured, non-escalatory, proportional, and responsible” operation aimed at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. The operation was intended to prevent and discourage any additional cross-border terrorist attacks following the assault in Pahalgam.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
