4 Pakistani students killed in clashes in Kyrgyzstan’s Bishkek
Four Pakistani students were slain in clashes in Kyrgyzstan‘s capital, Bishkek. The event occurred on May 13, when a brawl broke out at a hostel, purportedly involving some Pakistani students. This fight quickly turned violent, and other students in the hostel attacked the Pakistani students.
According to reports, many Indian students are also at risk. For the past few days, Bishkek has witnessed intense violent conflicts. Several others were seriously injured in the fights.

No help from Pakistani authorities, allege Pak students
Since the incident, Pakistani students have claimed that they received no assistance from the Pakistani Embassy or local officials in Kyrgyzstan. Students reported that they were not receiving sufficient treatment, even in hospitals, and they were concerned about their safety.
While, the Pakistani Embassy has expressed great sorrow over the incident and stated that it is in contact with the Kyrgyzstan authorities to assure the students’ safety.
According to the information, Pakistani students have been reportedly targeted and beaten up by the violent mob. Some of the videos related to the clashes have also been surfaced on social media.

Given the conditions, Islamabad’s envoy encouraged students to stay indoors and provided two emergency numbers.
Students recount their experience
According to the local media, a student described her ordeal. The girl stated that she was terrified and saved her life by hiding in the bathroom.
The girl claimed that a violent mob entered her hostel, beat up numerous Pakistani students, and vandalized the place. The student screamed and begged for assistance.
Another student said, “A very bad thing happened to us. We don’t know whether we are safe or not. A very bad thing happened to us. Please send us to Pakistan. Yesterday there was a fight in which Pakistanis were also involved. They beat up a lot of people. We saved our lives by hiding in the hostel, but we are fine. We are on the 6th floor. They have closed the doors of the apartments and are sitting there, not knowing whether we are safe or not.”

Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan issued an official statement following the incident. It said, “We are in touch with our students. The situation is presently calm but students are advised to stay indoors for the moment and get in touch with the Embassy in case of any issue. Our 24×7 contact number is 0555710041.”
