The Bihar Police has registered a case against poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor and several others for supposedly inciting the student protest organized by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan.

As per the police, Kishor and fellow party members incited the candidates, leading them to take to the streets and cause disruptions in various areas of the city.

A case was lodged against the head of the Jan Suraaj Party Bihar for conducting the protest close to Gandhi Maidan, even though the district authorities denied their request.

Kishor will hold a press conference at 11 am today regarding the matter.

Thousands of candidates maintained their demonstration at Gandhi Maidan on Sunday, demanding a re-test of the 70th BPSC preliminary exam and a discussion with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The demonstration started on December 13 and has since gained support from numerous important politicians, educators, and activists.

The Bihar Police announced that Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party notified the district administration on Saturday about their plan to conduct a Chattra Sansad (student parliament) at Gandhi Maidan. The district administration, nonetheless, denied the request and communicated its decision to the party.

“Nonetheless, on Sunday, the party assembled an unauthorized crowd close to the Gandhi statue, provoking the protest and generating a law and order issue,” the police stated.

The case was filed against over 19 individuals, including Manoj Bharti, the Jan Suraaj Party president, Rahmanshu Mishra, an operator of a coaching institute, along with Nikhil Mani Tiwari, Subhash Kumar Thakur, Shubham Snehlil; Prashant Kishor, accompanied by two bouncers – Anand Mishra and Rakesh Kumar Mishra; and several others.

Furthermore, more than 600 unknown individuals were also recorded as defendants. The District Magistrate of Patna affirmed the progress, stating that an inquiry into the issue is in progress.

Earlier on Sunday, Kishor voiced his backing for the candidates who are protesting, urging a cessation of corruption in Bihar’s examinations. He criticized Nitish Kumar for “visiting Delhi privately while neglecting the youth in his own state,” according to news agency PTI.

Addressing the demonstrators in Patna, Kishor stated, “The Chief Minister is too busy to hear the concerns of the protesting candidates and has traveled to Delhi. The demonstration will persist until their request for the exam’s cancellation is acknowledged. I am consistently alongside the protesting students.”

He continued by stating that prior to participating in the protest, he engaged in thorough discussions with officials from the education sector. “Every exam in Bihar has occurred with corruption or paper leaks.” “We need to come together to make sure this stops,” Kishor stated.

However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.
