Harmanpreet Kaur, Kranti Goud help India seal ODI Series
Harmanpreet’s Incredible Knock
Harmanpreet Kaur was at her imperious best today, as the Indian women’s ODI captain smashed a brilliant 102 off just 84 balls in the deciding third match against England at the Riverside Ground, Chester‑le‑Street and played a crucial part in helping India to win the ODI Series.Â
Her crucial partnerships with Harleen Deol (81 runs) and Jemimah Rodrigues (110 runs) laid the foundation for a big score as Team India ended on 318/5, their second-highest ODI total vs England, thanks in part to a brisk cameo from Richa Ghosh (38 off 18 balls). Jemimah also chipped in with a crucial 50 off 45 balls.
Records broken by Harmanpreet Kaur
- Her century came off just 82 balls — the second quickest by an Indian woman in ODIs, behind Mandhana’s 70-ball effort.
- This was her seventh ton in ODIs, taking her to the second place with Mithali Raj and just behind Smriti Mandhana who has 11 hundreds.
- With this knock, she crossed 4,000 ODI runs, becoming only the third Indian woman to do so, joining Mandhana and Mithali Raj.
- Thanks to her knock, India ended on 318/5, their second-highest ODI total vs England.
- Harmanpreet became the first visiting batter to score three ODI centuries in England, with this being her third ton on these shores

Kranti Goud Magic With The Ball
England’s pursuit got off to a poor start when Tammy Beaumont was bowled by a superb delivery from Kranti Goud in the opening over. Goud then made an impact once more in her second over, edging Jones’ bat as Deepti Sharma snagged a stunning one-handed catch diving to her right at short thirdman.
Meanwhile, England’s third wicket partnership took 84 balls to reach the fifty-run mark before speeding up, with 66 runs scored in overs 11-20. Lamb, having momentarily slowed, resumed pace with a four over Deepti’s head in the 21st over.
However, with 55 runs required from the last five overs, England faced a challenging situation – a task made more difficult as Kranti Goud took Dean’s wicket and Charani removed Ecclestone, with Rodrigues securing both catches.
Heartbreak for Nat Sciver-Brunt
England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt expressed her frustration regarding her team’s fielding performance as India clinched a 2-1 ODI series victory with a 13-run win on Tuesday.
England was all out for 305, narrowly missing the record for the highest chase in women’s ODI cricket, as India scored 318-5 at the Riverside Ground.
Nat Sciver-Brunt performed excellently with the bat, finishing just two runs shy of a century, which her rival, Harmanpreet Kaur, accomplished with a delightful 102.
