Surbana Jurong, the renowned Singaporean urban planning firm that developed the master plan for Singapore, has been appointed to design the master plan for the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA). This ambitious project marks the establishment of a new city in Uttar Pradesh (UP), 47 years after the creation of Noida in 1976. The master plan is slated to be ready within 11 months, signifying a significant step forward in the development of the Bundelkhand region.
The US-based real estate consultancy firm CBRE will serve as a consultant on this project, bringing its extensive experience in real estate and urban planning to ensure the success of this venture. Headquartered in Jhansi, BIDA’s development is poised to transform the region into a major industrial hub.
Strategic Land Acquisition and Connectivity Boost for BIDA
The project will initially involve the acquisition of 35,353 acres of land from 33 villages in phase one. So far, 4,100 acres of land have already been acquired, demonstrating significant progress in laying the groundwork for this greenfield project. This strategic land acquisition will facilitate the construction of the necessary infrastructure to support industrial activities and urban development.
Jhansi, the central location for BIDA, is strategically situated at the junction of the East-West and North-South Golden Quadrangle Corridor, making it a pivotal point for transportation and logistics. This location is expected to enhance connectivity and attract investments, fostering economic growth in the region.
