A video showing an old man being attacked by train passengers in Nashik, Maharashtra, on suspicion of carrying beef has become popular on social media, drawing strong condemnation from the opposition. AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel shared a video of the incident near Igatpuri on Dhule Express, criticizing the government and police for ignoring “these forces”.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) stated that the supposed incident occurred earlier this week, as reported on Saturday. Thane GRP has filed a First Information Report against over five passengers.
The old passenger claimed that it was goat meat, not beef
The dispute initially began because of the seating arrangement. The video depicts a group of individuals encircling the elderly man and intimidating him. The group proceeds to attack the man while he begs for mercy from them. The old man also mentioned that the meat was from a goat, not a cow.
The elderly man, Haji Ashraf Munyar, was stated to be a resident of Jalgaon district by the GRP. While on his way to Kalyan to visit his daughter, he was reportedly attacked by the passengers he was travelling with.

GRP said people involved in attack have been identified
The GRP said the people involved in assaulting the man have been identified. However, no case has been registered yet. “We have taken cognisance of the video and identified the victim. Some of the people involved in the attack have also been identified, and a probe is on,” an official said.
Responding to the incident, AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel emphasized the importance of opposing and standing up against such forces, as these occurrences are becoming increasingly common.
“We just can’t be mute spectators. It’s high time we, all secular Indians, should come together to defeat these forces. How so much poison has spread among these men and how could they even think of doing such a thing to somebody who maybe their grandfathers’ age,” the Aurangabad MP tweeted.
