It is simple to communicate feelings in writing, according to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, but the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is in power, needs to gain the confidence of the opposition parties by its actions.
He was reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s letter seeking a debate on the Manipur situation.
“It is easy to express feelings through a letter but it is easier to earn the trust of the Opposition parties through your conduct,” Kharge wrote.
The Home Minister said on Tuesday that he had written to both the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, and the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, in the midst of the parliamentary gridlock. He emphasised once more that the government is open to debate about the circumstances in Manipur.
