Lakshya Sen will take on Lu Guang Zu of China in the first round

Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen will make his comeback at the Denmark Open Super 750 event kicking off next week.

The Indian badminton player participated in the Arctic Open this week following a lengthy hiatus after the Olympics, but unfortunately encountered an early elimination.

In the men’s singles at the Denmark Open, Lakshya has an intriguing match schedule, starting with Lu Guang Zu of China in the first round, possibly facing Jonatan Christie in the second round, and world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the quarter-finals.

Lakshya’s performance in the Arctic Open, where he lost against Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei after squandering a one-game lead, will be closely examined. Although Lakshya did receive a walkover in the first round, his quick elimination serves as a reminder of the tough competition in Denmark, requiring him to perform at his best to succeed.

Who is Lu Guang Zu?

Lu Guangzu, a Chinese Badminton player, was born on October 19, 1996. In 2018, Lu reached his inaugural final at the Lingshui China Masters. Afterwards, he secured victories in the Australian Open and Canada Open.

Lu made it to the Australian Open final for the first time in four years by beating world No.2 Lee Zii Jia along the way. Despite being defeated by his fellow countryman Shi Yuqi in three sets, he earned a spot in the World Tour Finals for the first time in his professional career. He won against Prannoy H. S. in a close three-game match in his group, but did not advance to the semi-finals after losing to world No.1 Viktor Axelsen and Kodai Naraoka in straight games.

Lu has been crowned champion in 3 tournaments on the BWF world Tour and has also come in second place in 4 competitions. He won the Korea Open Super 500 in 2024.

Indian Contingent in Women’s Singles

In the women’s singles, PV Sindhu will lead India’s campaign as she faces Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po in the first round of the Denmark Open. Apart from Sindhu, three other Indian women shuttlers will compete in the singles draw. Malvika Bansod will face Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh, and if she progresses, she could set up an all-Indian clash against Aakarshi Kashyap, who is up against Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the first round.

Additionally, young Unnati Hooda will take on Lauren Lam from the USA in the first round.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
