In this context, the US-based Archer Aviation and parent company InterGlobe Enterprises of IndiGo announced that they will introduce an all-electric air taxi service in India in 2026. According to the most recent reports, travelers will be able to get from Connaught Place to Gurugram in seven minutes with the air tax service.
Archer Aviation to Supply 200 eVTOL Aircraft for Urban Air Mobility in India
In accordance with the agreement, 200 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Archer Aviation will be supplied; aside from the pilot, each eVTOL aircraft can accommodate four passengers. The aircraft will function similarly to a helicopter, but with improved safety features and significantly less noise.
Executives at Archer Aviation said that tickets for the five-seater eVTOL aircraft’s seven-minute flight from Connaught Place to Gurugram, Haryana, could cost anywhere between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 3,000.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a US regulator, and Archer Aviation’s founder and CEO, Adam Goldstein, stated that the company is at an advanced stage of the certification process for its aircraft. The company will start the certification process with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after certification is anticipated for the following year.

InterGlobe and Archer Aviation announced as part of their joint venture that they will introduce a comparable taxi service outside of Delhi, in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
According to Goldstein, a car typically costs about Rs 1,500 and takes about 90 minutes to travel the 27 kilometers between Connaught Place and Gurugram.
