Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing arrests Deepak Gupta for allegedly misappropriating funds

On Friday, Deepak Gupta, the brother-in-law of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover, was arrested by the Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for allegedly misappropriating funds. The couple, Ashneer Grover and Madhuri, were arrested after a police report was made in May 2023, accusing them of criminal breach of trust, cheating, and forgery.

Deepak Gupta is the husband of Madhuri Grover’s sister.

Gupta was previously Head of Procurement at BharatPe’s parent company Resilient Innovation.

As per ANI, Gupta is currently detained at EOW Police Station and will soon appear before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) at Saket court.

BharatPe seeks 81 crore in damages in lawsuit

This new legal case is in addition to a civil suit already filed by BharatPe against Grover and his family members. The lawsuit is demanding damages of up to Rs 81 crore, claiming misappropriation of funds.

BharatPe lodged a criminal complaint in December 2022 against five people, which included co-founder Ashneer Grover, his wife Madhuri Grover, her brother Shwetank Jain, her father Suresh Jain, and Deepak Gupta.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
