On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court approved bail for Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat, who were both detained in connection with the Parliament security breach incident that occurred on December 13, 2023.

The court, upon delivering its ruling, instructed the accused to provide a bail bond of Rs 50,000 each, accompanied by two sureties of the same amount.

The court has prohibited them from exiting the city of Delhi and ordered them to check in at the assigned police station every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 am.

A bench of justices, including Justice Subramonium Prasad and Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, issued the order that had been reserved on May 21.

The incident occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist assault on Parliament and raised concerns regarding security weaknesses.

The accused was charged by the police under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police stated that Azad had colluded with other co-defendants to carry out the terrorist act aimed at instilling fear in the minds of Parliament members, staff, visitors, and the millions viewing the live broadcast of the House on television.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
