New Delhi | November 10, 2025: Two more victims succumbed to their injuries at Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP) late Monday evening, raising the death toll from the Red Fort car bomb blast to 10, hospital authorities confirmed. At least 24 others remain injured, five of them in critical condition with severe burns and shrapnel wounds.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally taken over the probe. A 12-member team arrived at the blast site around 8:15 PM, joining Delhi Police and National Security Guard (NSG) personnel already deployed in the high-security zone. Forensic experts have recovered fragments of a high-grade improvised explosive device (IED) from the charred wreckage of the white Eco van, reportedly registered outside Delhi.
“Preliminary analysis confirms the use of RDX mixed with ammonium nitrate, packed in metal containers to maximize fragmentation,” said a senior NSG official, requesting anonymity

Eyewitness Horror: “Body Parts Flew Across the Road”
Scenes of devastation continued to unfold near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station, where the explosion tore through the evening rush hour. Eyewitnesses described a massive fireball followed by chaos and screams echoing through the narrow streets of Old Delhi.
“I was buying tea when the car just… vanished in a ball of fire,” said one witness, still covered in soot. “A woman’s body was thrown twenty feet. Her child was screaming beside her. One man’s body was torn into pieces—I saw limbs flying through the air.”
Another local resident, whose house faces Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, said the blast shook nearby buildings and shattered window frames.

“I saw a huge fireball from my terrace and ran down. The explosion was so strong that the ground vibrated,” he said.
Multiple vehicles caught fire as the explosion ripped through the busy area, just a few hundred metres from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and 1.1 km from Jama Masjid—both packed with evening visitors. Visuals from the site show extensive damage: mangled cars, scorched storefronts, and debris scattered across the cobblestone lanes of Purani Dilli.
Nearly a dozen ambulances rushed to evacuate the injured as firefighters battled flames amid screams and chaos. One eyewitness claimed the blast felt like “more than one explosion,” though officials have not confirmed multiple devices.
Horrific videos are emerging, with a total of 9 deaths reported so far and 26 people seriously injured.

Security Lockdown Over Old Delhi
In response, the Delhi Police sealed all entry points into Chandni Chowk and imposed aerial surveillance using drones over the Old Delhi area. Checking of two-wheeler riders and suspicious vehicles has been intensified within a 5-kilometre radius.
Traffic has been diverted away from the Red Fort precinct and adjoining markets as Special Cell officers and forensic teams continue their sweep.
The NIA and NSG are expected to brief the Ministry of Home Affairs later tonight. Investigators are now focusing on identifying the vehicle’s owner and possible links to the Faridabad terror module busted earlier in the day.
