Girl who cannot see, hear or speak scores 95% in ICSE board exams

Sarah Moin of Lucknow overcame several physical obstacles to get an outstanding 95% in her ICSE Class 10 exams. Considering that Sarah is speech-impaired, deaf, and visually-impaired, her accomplishment is astounding.

Born with vision impairment, Sarah slowly lost her hearing after Class 3. Despite these challenges, she got success due to her perseverance, determination and thirst for knowledge.

Sarah’s parents, Julie Hamid and Moin Ahmad Idrisi, say that although she has faced difficulties along the way, she has also received divine direction. They sent her for specialized care and used Braille to finish her schooling at home.

Supportive environment helped Sarah succeed

Christ Church College, Lucknow, saw Sarah’s potential and invited her to join a special class led by devoted teacher Salman Ali Qazi. Sarah flourished in this encouraging environment with other students with disabilities.

Her father emphasized the function of Orbit Reader, a special tool that serves as Sarah’s teaching aid and blends a book reader, notepad, and Braille display.

Her textbooks were scanned and converted into digital files, allowing her to access them through the Braille keyboard on her laptop.

A major obstacle to communication was overcome by Sarah and her family with the use of technology and innovative methods. Sarah used to communicate using her fingers to create words on her family members’ hands in order.

Sarah’s mother, Julie, also a teacher, meticulously went over her lessons with her daughter by using her fingers to create alphabets that Sarah had to figure out and put together to form phrases.

Through her hard work, Sarah scored great scores: 99 in geography, 97 in chemistry, 92 in biology, and 89 in physics.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
