The Congress party announced on Thursday the launch of a nationwide public outreach campaign, ‘Sanvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra,’ which will traverse villages and townships across the country. This decision was taken during a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the party’s highest executive body.
Congress Working Committee Resolution
In a strongly worded resolution, the CWC criticized the Modi government, stating, “The country faces multiple challenges, and the Modi government has failed to address them effectively. In fact, its catastrophic policies have worsened the situation, placing an enormous burden on the people.”

The resolution highlighted key issues such as territorial disputes with China, rising drug trafficking through the Mundra port, economic decline, and the controversial agricultural laws. It also expressed concern over the erosion of constitutional values, declaring, “The Congress Party will resist every sinister attempt to convert the country into a surveillance and police state.”
The CWC accused the Modi government of undermining the constitutional promises of liberty and justice, which it said have “receded into a vain hope.” Concluding the resolution, the CWC issued a call to action for all democratic forces:
“We call upon all democratic parties and forces to join hands to oppose the Modi government, protect the foundational values of our country, and advance the causes of the people.”

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal outlined the party’s plans for 2025, emphasizing organisational reforms. “2025 will be the year of the Congress Organisational Reforming Programme, including a thorough evaluation of the capabilities of leaders at all levels,” he said.
He added that the party has adopted two key resolutions—one focusing on Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and another addressing the political situation in the country. “More than 50 leaders participated in the discussions. We decided to embark on a massive one-year political campaign to strengthen the party’s outreach and revitalise its organisational structure,” Venugopal noted.
The Congress aims to channel this campaign to unite democratic forces and intensify its opposition to the Modi government in the run-up to future electoral battles.
